Default Programming Factory Alarm

My wife & I just purchased a brand new 2005 Civic Sedan EX-se. It came with keyless entry but doesnt seem to have an actual alarm with shock sensors. It doesnt even beep or honk when you lock & unlock it. I remember both the sales person and the finance guy mentioning that the dealership actually puts an alarm in each vehicle that they put on the lot (to keep their insurance low). But then they claimed that all we were getting was keyless entry and if we wanted to convert it to an actual active alarm, it would cost $400 and it would only take their alarm tech a few minutes to activate the alarm programming. SOOOO... now Im thinking to myself that if it only takes him a few minutes to "activate" it, I might as well do it myself. So my question is this: is it possible to program the factory keyless entry system to "activate" the rest of the alarm features? Or is there more hardware required to make it work?

no way to "activate" the alarm system as there's no alarm in the car inless you pay for it! the reason it doesn't take too long to upgrade to an alarm system is the car is prewired for the system thus it's a matter of pluging the unit in.
