D16y8 Build
ok so my plans for my D16y8 are under much speculation as of late. i had planned to ship off a spare head i have to KMS to get the ol' pord job done. plus the entire build. valve springs, valves, ti retainers, valve seals. the works. i was looking at about $1200 to $1500 depending on the parts i supply or use KMS brand. after the head work i was going to upgrade to a new intake manifold, fuel system upgrades, and ingnition. Then to top it off a hondata tune. well the engine now has 134k on it and im having serious second thoghts of doing all of this work if the bottom end isnt gonna hold up when the hp and torque starts stepping up. rings are in good shape, dosnt burn much more than 1/4 of a quart between oil changes. any opinions? cause if the bottom end will need upgrading after all of that i might as well swap to a b series motor. as the cost for what i want to do and the cost for a swap become closer, it makes me want to go with the swap. anyone run into this problem or have any suggestions on what might be a good idea to do in this case?
why waste your money on the head if your not going to build the block!
i've noticed a lot of people are thinking this way latley. & IT's Wrong!
if your going to build an engine, the block is the most important part to start with!
Sleeve it / build it / boost it... when u get the extra money prep an extra head for it & swap them out!

well i like b series but im partial to the d-16 for whatever reason, caught up in the following. would it be a good idea to purchase a used block that has been machiened back to spec and start there? do the work in my garage bit by bit till i have a new motor or would it be prudent to just swap to a b series? i mean, i want to build the d-series but i dont have 10 years to do so. know what i mean? if i do build the d series im gonna make it bomb proof and boost it.
anyone have a good solution to this situation? should i build a d series? should i swap a b series? should i run my motor into the ground? haha i dunno just threw that last one in for fun.
Does anyone know any reputable engine builders that i could send the parts off to and have built to what specs i would want? i dont have enough knowledge of how to assemble a motor and would rather leave that up to the pros. i could most likely put it in myself tho.
