Forged motor swap with turbo setup. It runs pretty strong.

A t3/T4 Turbo Civic will smoke a supercharged Mustang GT
No payments
Cheaper insurance
Better in the winter (he has a jeep too)

He can modify it without voiding a warranty to go 12's: Negative
It will beat my Mustang GT: Depends on mods ( I know SC, but how many PSI)
It handles better: true
It is cheaper to fix when it breaks: Dunno
A t3/T4 Turbo Civic will smoke a supercharged Mustang GT: Again depends on how much boost each are running, and the distance.
No payments: okay.
Cheaper insurance: Not if he gets a SI (most stolen honda)
Better in the winter (he has a jeep too) (depends more on tires)

i basically agree with you... though i own a honda, i'm trying to convince my friend that it probably isn't a smart choice to sell the stang for a honda if he wants a cheap/fast car... turbo civics are quick, but blown mustangs are easily capable of 11 second passes, and 9 second passes for moderate cost. gas mileage is a hurter though.
i'm trying to convince him to keep the stang and if he wants a reliable DD to buy a honda or something
I think the reason he is talking that he can modify it to run 12's without voiding the warrenty is because the Honda is a 2000 and off warrenty. As opposed to the Mustang which is a 2003 and most likely still on warrenty
Semi true. It can get expensive when the motor breaks. Any modification on the motor itself will void the warranty. A well maintained turbo setup to go 12's is going to add up.
Tell your friend to look into a 92-95 base model hatchback or sedan and swap a B-series motor in there. It is cheaper and cost effective when it comes down to $$$ and power.
