Need peoples testaments.
Ok, as some of you may have read I have money, but no credit card to order my B16A. So whenever I want to order something I give my mom the money and then I order the part. My mom has been going back and forth all week wether I can order the engine or not. She keeps saying that I can get it and if i need a little bit of money she would help me, then she'd bouce back and say it's not worth it. I wrote up a list of places with the cheapest swaps, their warenties, the parts, the pro's and con's of getting the engine(couldn't find but maybe two cons). Now her thing is telling me to just finance the 06 SI next year (if it comes out). My 95 is in pristene condition with about 700$ already in extra's I put into the car. If some of you swappers could just write a sentance or two about the bennifits of the swap and how well it works etc. it would help me out tons.
:chuckles: a swap may or may not work perfectly. A swap may or may not run right. A swap may or may not be a pain in the ass. Sorry to be a smart ass, but these things don't always go smoothly... but whatever issues you come across can be adressed with our help.
Why your mother is suggesting you spend a whole boatload more than the cost of a swap on a new car when you're already satisfied with your car is totally beyond me. A swap will be maybe 1/8 the cost of an '06 civic, not to mention WAY cheaper insurance on a '95. If you just want your car to be a little more peppy and are happy with it otherwise, financing a new car makes absolutely no sense.

Dido!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyways he is right some motors ordered online or even picked up can come with damaged sensors, ext. The motor can have a blown rod blah blah but 98% of the time motors are fine just sensors are broken or whatever. Anyways just make sure you do your homework on the swaps make sure you know what you need in total to do the swap money, parts. If you know what you want and know what you need everything else should fall right into place. The new 06 is freegen nice but for the price tag eehhhh I would be happy with the 95 good luck. Ohhh and mom if he has any issues we are here to help

I showed my mah this thred a minute ago and she goes "GOD! You're making me sound like the bad guy I'm not gonna even talk to you." Then she said I can do whatever I want when I move out, which she won't let me because we just spent two years turning the basement into a bottom floor with kitche, bathroom, my small ass recording studio, etc.
Edit/rant... She said it's a waste, but she could have gotten a small fricken' 98 Miata because she wanted a sports car, instead she goes and gets an S2K.(..and leaves it stock..)

Depends on your budget and long term goals in life and with the car. I have had my 93' Coupe for almost 12 years and as far as I'm concerned I will never sell it because I will never get what I think it's worth. I love my coupe. But do I recommend dumping over $20,000.00 into a civic? It depends. I could have just about any new car under $50,000.00 I wanted but just when I start thinking that way something reminds me why I love my coupe so much. I am the good driver of my group of friends yet last night I was only able to muster a 14.1 in my cousins new EVO MR with over 20psi dialed in with a MBC. But after several runs I realized that it just is not a car that I am comfortable driving. I could not launch the damn thing. This is my cousins second EVO and he has yet to run faster than a 13.8 sec 1/4 mile in either car and he drives it everyday. Yet, he had a blown 02' RSX that ran low 13's all day. I know if I drove it everyday things might change and I love the EVO and know it is a great car to tune, is really fast but it just does not fit me. On the other hand later that night I was able to muster a 14.2 out of my best friends stock (STI wing, scoop, and intercooler but that's it) WRX which is damn good for stock WRX. The WRX just felt right and I had no problem launching it down the track. I watched countless STI's and EVO's slam down high 12's and low 13's and at the end of the night I thought I had convinced myself that I wanted a WRX. But.... then here comes a blue 5th gen coupe and it runs two back to back 11.4 sec 1/4 miles runs. I never thought of an EVO or a WRX for the rest of the night. Every year I say I'm gonna sell my CRX and my coupe and buy a truly complete weekend car but yet last year I bought a used Protege ES 2.0 to make my 110 mile a day drive to work and back. Just really follow your heart man. my cousin has his second EVO and all he has had is dissapointment. He really thought trading in his regular EVO for a MR was the answer yet he is still getting beat my stock WRX's with 70 less HP. Just because you buy a fast car does not mean you are going to be satisfied. A swap might be the answer and it might not. Swaps can be a nightmare if you are not a mechanic. I have pulled my motor out more times than I know. It's a constant thing. Getting a new car gives you a fresh start. I have been replacing bushings, brake lines, interior pieces, rubber molding, window motors, and shit like that for the last coupel of years. Just when I get the car right soemthing else comes up. BUt that's to be expected of a car that has 250k on it. I would say get a new car unless you are really into racing. I do everything 100%. No way in hell would I drive a slow civic. I have a fast civic just to prove a point. I still get smirks at the drag stirp from newbies but that's what I love, being the percieved under dog. Then when I see a regular joe running low elevens spinning all through secind gear it reminds me of what I love about fast fours.
:chuckles:this thread is too good!
I don't see how you're making your mom sound like the bad guy :dunno: A swap is a perfectly feasible way of bringing life back into an old, tired car. Sure, swapping sometimes involves headaches, but nothing a little cursing and asking around can't fix. Your mom sounds like a big spender
