Default overheating problem, fan not coming on

hey guys.. my cousin has a 95 ex and recently its started to have an overheating problem. namely the fan isnt coming on all the time.

sometimes it works, othertimes it doesnt.

its not the fan motor, ive put 12v to it, it runs fine

its not the relay, i swapped it and the AC blower motor relay, and the AC always blows

so im figuring its a sensor somewhere that tells the ECM to turn the fan on.. or a connection somewhere before the relay

has anyone had this problem, anyone have any ideas? thanks!

Thermostat? Radiator? Check the radiator, and fluids, flush?

in the radiator, there is a wire going into it... that is the radiator fan switch. that controls the on/off function of the fan.

i had the same problem only mine didnt come on. reason cuz the temperature sensor wasnt plug in correctly. maybe u have a bad sensor. the sensor is located right under the distributor and its the smallest one. its plug right into the block.

i had a similar problem. i would first replace the thermostate cuz its the cheapest, but i think the problem is the radiator fan switch. its located reight where the thermostate is, and theres a wire coming out of it that leads to the radiator fan motor. i think its abot 40 bucks from Honda. good luck

if you plugged in 12V to the fan and it comes on with no problem then it's probably something between your thermostat and switch. temporary fix it- hook up a relay and aux switch to turn on the fan manually.
