Default I THINK i might have to replace my oil pan

Ok so i was driving and i hit a bump in the road and i came down pretty hard...the car is cool....just my instrument panel no longer lights up....so i gotta check the fuses in the morning...

I was talkin with a few people and they told me if my oil pan is dented or got a hole in it then i need to replace it...since this is the case...im gonna look under the car in the morning to see if its actually dented (Im praying it isnt) but if it is and it needs replacing...

A) Where would i o to get a new one

B) What exactly do i need for the DIY job

C) How hard of a job is it to replace for a 92 LX with a Z6 motor AT, and if it isnt hard how would i go about replacing it.

TIA

If it isn't leaking but just dented, it should be fine. If it is leaking, you need to get a new one. Check the parts classifieds forum. I see them all the time.

You need a new oil pan gasket and oil pan to do the job. It is fairly simple. You just need to move the exhaust manifold out of your way to drop the pan and then remove any flywheel covers and engine stiffeners if you cannot get to all the bolts as in my case. Just remove all the bolts, replace and put it all back together. Don't overtorque the bolts though. On my engine, the torque spec is 9 ft/lbs. Good luck.

you could just take the pan off, set it on a wood block and use a rubber mallet to hammer back to shape. u dont necessarily need a new oil pan gasket either, you couldjust use RTV. or you could make your own gasket, just go to napa and ask for a sheet of it

thats not enough of a problem to worry about.. if it was leaking or the dent looked like it would effect the oil pickup then i would say go ahead & look for a fix or a replacment.. but that ought to be fine!

Watch where u'r goin!!!

yeah i would say you are fine, that is not in the way of the pickup, so no harm done except cosmetic.
