Are you sure you have an EX? The stock EX D16Y8 was factory rated at 28/32 mpg. Or does California emissions just really choke things off?

I think mine was rated at 32/36 here.

And yes I am sure, I put a turbo on it h:

Mine got better gas milage with the stock stuff off (CAI, header, exhaust) I am guessing by less air restriction. And with using Mobil1 and NGK spark plugs I also saw a benefit.

Swaggs...what size tires/rims are you running? Those MPG figures seem really high, even in stock form.

Wow. Good for you. I'd have to have a tail wind following me whereever I go or live in an Escher world where I'm always driving downhill to get mpg like that on my 97 ex.

Yeah, the Saab is really intriguing to me. But what concerns me is the reliability and longevity of a Saab (compared to Honda).

What you'd pay for the Saab, you could by 10 AWD DSMs for, though.
You're talking about an old Eclipse AWD right?

Saabs don't have a history of being unreliable. The old 900 series used to have a history of running every bit as long as current day Hondas. I had a roommate in '92 that racked 340,000 miles on his before ripping the tread off his tires on a freshly paved road ( a little too freshly paved... still sticky) He just left it in the road with the keys in it. New tires cost more than the car was worth by that point.

I could be. It's sad, but I ran the Kelly BB value on my '95 this morning (2g). It's only worth $4400. I've almost got twice that in the motor and tranny. 1g turbo cars can be purchased in good working order for between $500-$2500.

You won't get good gas mileage with any AWD car, period. Way too much rotating mass in the drivetrain to pull that off. But you'll at least enjoy every penny of your gas budget.
