Default B16A swap in 93Si Hatch, still using 93Si SOHC/VTEC ECU, got some Q's.

Buddy of mine has this car

Yeah it looks like shit, but it's pretty quick. You should see his CF hood, it's got all these splits and cracks in it, but it's not all the way through the CF and it's sorta warped. It's one of those parts someone bought brand new and he's like the 4th owner. It's been passed around at the local races like a hooker.

Anyways, his B16A ECU got crushed in the transport of his motor. It's too late to bitch at the company now, etc etc. He just got the swap done about a month ago and the car has run great since. Hasn't thrown an CEL or anything. But he's still running his stock SOHC VTEC ECU (I think his stock motor was an EX/VTEC motor, D16Z6) any anyways it's got the rev limit of 7500ish and it's only an SOHC ECU and etc. He wants to know how much power he's losing versus using a real B16 ECU.

Edit: That's not a CTR or ITR swap, just a painted valve cover.

not much... but a B16ECU will control the Vtec and the REV limiter much better...

Isn't the stock ECU a P28? If it is, just get it chipped.

you will get a lot more out of the swap if you chip that ECU. It's really easy to do if you have some soldering skills.

BTW I wouldn't beat it too much, that ECU would run a B16 lean at times. lean = melting things.

Like I said, not my car. He beats the shit out of it too. I do admit it's a clean swap.
