Default Help changing timing gbelt

I need some Help changing my timin gbelt on my 1998 Civic LX. I got the crank pulley bolt off. My problem is that I took the sprocket off the inside of the crankshaft, and now it wont go on. One side of the crankshaft sprocket has teeth like a wheel on it, and the other side is smooth. My question is this-

Which side of the sprocket goes in? Do the teeth go on the inside or the outside of the craknshaft?

If the teeth go on the outside, and press against the back of the crankshaft pulley, then I have a problem, because it wont go on that way even when I line up the key.

Thanks guys!!!!
