it doesnt.... I am pretty sure that a V6 Stang can pull high to mid 15s, and a stock, non vtec civic will be in the 17s somewhere....

Unless you can make a street driven/leagal civic get below 12secs in the quarter it is going to have a hard time beating any street driven car out there.

Civics were (and still are) relatively cheap, that's why they're so popular. Plus, Honda sort of furthered the idea by introducing the Si models at various points in the Civic's history.

I said "just about" I didnt say all. And I bet that I could get real close with 5 grand to an under 12sec civic....

^that^ is highly uncommon, too.

If you can't make ANY chassis run a sub-12 second 1/4 mile for under $5000, you have problems. Racers like civics because the parts are abundant, and the chassis is light as a feather. Power gains do more for lighter cars.

You wouldn't catch me in a 12 second civic driving around on the street. I'd prefer to be in something much heavier and safer on the track, too. I wouldn't care if it had to make twice the power to keep up with a race-built civic. But that's me. I've wrecked a race car before, and I have a lot to live for.

D16Y8, Sleeved, bored, pistons, rods, arp head studs, new head gasket 3 grand

Turbo Setup: AFC Hack, Injectors, T3/T4 or SC61, DIY Piping, Intercooler, Filter, Other odds and ends (plumbing and all), $1500

16-18 psi of boost

Clutch and Flywheel, $400

Altogether, $4900 and I can guarantee that there won't be to many cars on the road that will touch it. And for a couple more grand, you could make one hell of a setup.....

I know it still needs drag radials or some sort, for this estimation, you will need to borrow from a friend h:
