it shouldn't be a problem if a new belt has one tooth less. The diference should be taken away by tension roller.

"the crank moves a bit takin the slack of the belt before the cam gear moves, so the crank and cam gear are not both at TDC. (also tesioner is untightened 180 degrees)"
Move belt on one tooth over the cam gear here to eluminate this difference. just check that everything in TDC after you tight tension roller. If not make it one more tooth over until you get it right.

You are supposed to move the crank gear 3 teeth cc, this takes the slack out of the front of the belt (longest straight part). Then tighten the tensioner, you shouldn't have to move the tensioner, just tighten it. I just did mine last night, and have yet to put the other 3 belts back on. Now your making me nervous. I hope it's right, cause I do not feel like taking everything apart again.

Move belt on one tooth over the cam gear, turn crank on 180 degrees, and tight tension roller. After check where is cam gear TDC mark with crank ar TDC position. Should be all right now. Don't count teeth like "2/3". It just a way it looks for you.

It depends on what direction it is off. If TDC mark went back( or right) than move belt clockwise. If forward (left) than move belt cc.

^ what he said. I got mine back together last night, and it runs great. Whew! You need to adjust your belt. I would take it off, put the engine back to TDC, and put the belt back on. Make sure you turn the engine a few revolutions afterwards to make sure the marks line back up properly, and to make sure your pistons aren't going to hit the valves when you start the car.

thanks for all the help guys, I started the car up and it runs fine, except for this really high pitch wining sound, which i'm guessing is the tesioner which i forgot to order when i got everything and though it would be ok so gotta get one of those now and rip everythin apart again to change it . Thought id just say i'm from the UK and spending 3 days out in the english weather was not nice at all, glad to have it done (well apart form the tesioner )
