Between how many miles do you change the oil on your Civic?

Exactly. Oil takes a long time to break down it's the containaments in the oil from your engine that destroys things.

interesting...what and where would the contaminats come from?

how do you just change the oil filter, doesnt oil come out from there?

you change the oil filter by unscrewing it and taking it off and putting a new one on. oil will be in there when you take it off so be careful.

Yea, you'll usually have to just add a little more in because when the car stops, so does the flow of the oil so some is still left up in the filter area.

Things like metal on metal, some oil blow by...

And if you leave your car sit for a couple of hours the oil drains back into the oil pan. Have you ever changed your oil? Yes a little bit of oil is in the filter but it doesn't come gushing out like a fountain. THat is why when you drain you oil you drain it by the DRAIN PLUG.

yeah ive changed the oil on my car before...i was just wondering if just changing the filter if the oil comes gushing out, but makes sense if leaving the car sitting the oil will drain back...thanks

when I had my civic, I ran mobile 1 synth and changed it and the filter every 3k-3.5k miles.
