yup, i have the dame D15 im my 93 civic dx coupe....im in the process of swapping in a jdm b16 as we speak. just because the D15 it a hunk of junk to get any sort of power from....its a great motor to get 40+ mpg thought!
im in the process of a partial restoration of my car as well, replacing old rusted parts with new and fixing rust spots on the body and repainting...

Still, a B-series is still a bit overkill for the application. Remember, I just want it to be more fun to drive (and gotta' have turbo). Could still get some good performance from a D16. I've considered a mini me conversion, but still so many miles on the block.
If I were to swap in a B18B1 I'd want to go all out and I'd end up turning a hobby project into an obsession.

FYI: I replaced my D15b8 with a D15b7. I got a more than a 34hp bump out of it. In fact, it dynoed 90.6hp/90.9tq... It may have made the ride a little TAD bit more fun, and it's amusing at best... but the unfortunate part of it is that it won't make any of it until 4000rpms. A DOHC motor won't give you those problems.
If you boost a D series, just don't go buying a gigantic turbo that you can't spool... a little boost goes a long way with Honda engines because they have higher compression than most factory-turbocharged engines. You won't need a lot of boost to make respectable power. Spend nothing on mods until you want to boost it unless money is no object. Everything on your intake and exhaust will have to be replaced when that happens.
