no cat=teh suxors...

... if you're trying to gain hp on your daily driver. Like what was said earlier... the gains are minimal, and the risk to your health is greater than the risk on the environment.

Test pipes are for race day. Still then... they're more trouble than they're worth.

What whould you suggest, for hp gains, besides turbo I want to keep it N/A?
Im taking off the test pipe soon any way, its not worth the risk.

CHECK YOUR ENGINE CODE! I can guess all day long about what the problem is but the ECU will TELL YOU what it thinks is wrong. You're killing me man...

HP gains nonTurbo: pull the block apart, put some nice high compression pistons in and decent rods. It will cost just as much as intake, header, blah blah and give you REAL whp gains. It's kind of a bish though. :chuckles:

Lots of people on this board will agree that the only way to make power with these cars short of doing internals or swaps is to boost them or spray them. You will barely feel the bolt-ons, but you WILL hear them. So if you want a loud slow car, stick with bolt-ons on a factory motor. There's not a ton of power to be unlocked from one of these engines with bolt-ons.

NA setups require displacement if you want to make power, so I personally wouldn't try it with a D-series.

Went to the Honda dealer and they checked the cel for me cause I could not find the wire. Im not much of a mechanic as you can see. They never told me the code, they said it was an o2 problem, insufficient backpressure and the o2 needs to be at a certain temperature for accurate readings. They said its common for a car to throw a cel light when you install a test pipe on a obd2 car.

You'll most likely need an o2 simulator.

...and I hope you get caught running w/o a cat
What exactly is an o2 simulator and where can I get one and will this solve my problem?

I put the stock heat shield over the test pipe so looks like an OE cat.
it fooled the mechanics at advance muffler so it will probly fool a cop. I hope!

Just put your old cat back on there. That will fix the problem. A high-flow cat may help the issue if you really have to improve something

o2 simulators cost 10 times what your test pipe costs. Seems like a lot to pay for a 1hp gain that makes your car sound like crap and smell funny.

That sounds like a plan. LoL you think my exhaust will get more deep with the cat or without? The test pipe was an attempt to make my exhaust sound better.

my friends civic dx is really LOUD and still deep he sets off car alarms when he cruses through the parking lot. His car has no modifications to it at all except his rsr gt2 exhaust. how come it sounds so good.
I know this sounds really rice but I just want a better sounding exhaust like my friends. I don’t care about performance on my civic cause its so damn slow and it cant get much faster, ive done most of the bolt ons but my friends car still sounds better. Im still in HS so I cant really afford a turbo

Loud does not sound good... sorry. The less restriction you put on your exhaust the louder and worse your exhaust will sound. Get a decent setup and it will sound good - RSR Exmag, Greddy Evo, Greddy SP1, Apexi World Sprort 1 or 2...

Setting car alarms off with exhaust is :ghey:
