I'm New. How much would I be looking to spend for a 96-00 Civic?
There is one listed in my area but it belongs to someone I know and they really mistreated it, plus, it's 6k. I'm located in Lawrence KS, the town with the best college b-ball team in the world, KU.
youll find something. it took me a few months to find mine. 96 hx, 2 door, manual, 72000 miles. the only problem, if you put the drivers window down all the way, it falls out of the track. i paid 3400. you just have to look everywhere. try yahoo classifieds or something like that. thats how i found mine.
If I'm looking for what a car is worth, go to autotrader.com and do a search for exactly that year and I typically pick 100 miles for distance. If you look down at the bottom you get the most expensive, the cheapest and an average. That average is usually a pretty good indication of how much you should expect to spend.
If you want a car that's physically in good condition and not abused, I'd probably budget closer to $5000 or so, especially if your looking for something like an EX (power options, sunroof, little more powerful VTEC engine).

Man, you gotta look outside your area. The odds of finding the right one within 100 miles are... probably not very good.
I know if it were me I would be willing to plane, train or automobile there and drive it back. Of course I'd make all the arrangements, be sure that it's the one and have a back up plan just in case.
