It doesn't matter what size the speaker is. When you momentarily touch the battery, you'll hear a "tap". As long as you don't hold it there for more than a second or so, you won't harm anything. That's another reason why you are using the lowest voltage commonly available battery. I wouln't worry about harming the speakers.

I don't have the wire diagram right now.

If you're having ahard time seeing which way it's moving, put a few tiny balled up pieces of paper on it and hold it to the battery a little longer.
