Gutting my CAT (the one on my car)...:
Holy crap. The law that states you can't remove a working catalytic converter isn't a state law. That's why there are two types of emissions... Federal, and California (stiffer than Federal). They're not supposed to be resold because they're not supposed to work. You're not supposed to remove it even from a junked car, and that's why the local (in VA) junkyards I've been to cut them all off with a plasma cutter and crush them. Chesterfield Auto Parts, Taylor Auto Parts, Always Used Auto Parts all do that.
I know of 1 junkyard that you could find cat' converters in, but he doesn't even have a yellow or white page listing, only has about 150 cars, and is hell bent on crushing every last one of them instead of selling anything off of them. What's crazy is... he's actually got a few Hondas, he usually does, nobody else around here ever does, and this place is in Richmond city limits. No I won't tell you who it is. :fawk:

PS: You can get no-name catalytic converters for about $50 brand new. You can get a 3" hi-flow for under $80, but you don't need that. Most exhaust shops will install a cat for about $30 if you were smart enough to measure your exhaust and get the right size part.
I think I'd rather buy a new cat and be done with it than go through all the trouble of mangling an already worn out part and bolting it back on, then expecting it not to be a rusty, leaky POS. If you really want the cat removed that bad, go to an exhaust shop, sign a waiver releasing them of liability, and have them chop it off and weld a straight pipe in. Probably cost you $25... about a third of the cost of replacing it... and it won't sound like a can of bees.

Actually be responsible for the environment don't do this. Remember we all have to chip in to take care of the air we breath. Yes you can say that I'm only one person and that's all. But if one person does it, another and another it adds up to alot of noxious fumes. And considering you live in WA anyone east of you will breath in those noxious gases.
Plus federal regulations say you cannot mess with emissions equipment that come stock on a car. If you are caught there can be some stiff penalties and possibly jail time.

Ok ok already, i will save the world, i got a high flow, ordered it on ebay (hope its decent) for 40 bux shiped. it is shorter than the stock cat, so I might have to take it to a shop to have installed, (will they install it for me?) or is there some kind of law against that?
