Default Installing Short Shifter.

Well, I figured I would go ahead and purchase an ebay short shifter.. and of course I have a problem installing it..

The short shifter didn't fit (i'll explain.. sort of..)

Okay, the stock shifter:

Okay, well the part between the ball and the bearing wont fit between the linkage and my exhaust heat shield.

What shall I eva do?

btw, when I put my stock one back on.. i put it on backwards.. it's true JDM, yo! eh, was too cold to go back under and fix it..

I don't need the heat shield? I figured the heat from the exhaust would dry out the grease or something..

i dont trust ebay too much. when i do buy from them its usually from high ratied people. that way i'll know if the item i bought, is the one that fits.

i bought a pair of angel eye projector headlights off ebay over the summer. 108 bucks.

Well, the one I got isn't bad, it's about the same weight of the stock shifter, doesn't feel cheap. (pic attatched.) it's a short shifter..

I guess I'll remove the heat shield.. should I grease up the shifter before installing? Also, could I just kind of.. mash down the heatshield?

make sure that the heat shield is not loose if u mash it down.. coz u'll may get an annoying raddle noise!

i'd just take the heat shield off.. u should fine

The heat shield only helps to stop direct heat,so it still
gets hot regardless if its there or not.and is good weight reduction,
the shield weighs close to a pound.good luck.

thats how its supposed to be. On many civics you will run into the problem of it hitting the heat sheild or the exhaust pipe....so a little hammering or bending is called for. Luckilly on my del sol, there is nothing near the linkage.
