Default Questions about adding vtec wiring *pics*

I've been preparing everything on my hatch for my dohc vtec swap here soon, and I am trying to do everything clean and the best I can.

I've spent all of tonight redoing my 95 dx wiring harness to add vtec and just plain clean it up. I stripped off all the old electrical tape, cleaned most of the plugs, and now I'm ready to add vtec. I want the vtec wiring ran inside of the harness.

My question is where is the best place to route the vtec wires to? I want them to be in the original location as if this was a Z6 wiring harness.

Here are some pics, it would be cool if someone could just use photoshop or paint to draw where I should route the vtec wires. I would appreciate it greatly

This is what the harness looks like on the side that I'm done with

just run the four wires directly from the ecu plug through the firewall and onto the sensors/places they need to go. Then wrap them in loom or elec. tape.

You could do that, or you could just figure out which wires in the engine harness go to the VTEC solenoid and VTEC Oil Pressure Sensor.

This should help: http://www.hybridgarage.com/tech/5gt...html#ECUpinout

I would just run the wires from the ECU, through the firewall, and up to the group of plugs at the passenger's side strut tower. Connect the wires there.

hih

:edit: oh, and btw, excellent work on the harness. You should be very proud of yourself for taking the time to clean that all up and make it new again. Good job! :goodjob:

I would but if you read the post more thoroughly ( ) you would have noticed that I said I want to put the vtec wires inside the harness to help with the overall clean look of the engine bay.

and WCS, thanks for the link. I think that might be the way I do it.
Are you saying that the VTEC wires are already in the harness? The plugs that go on the driver side strut tower are the ones on the left in the picture correct?

It depends on which engine harness you have. My GSR harness obviously already had the VTEC wiring so I just met it at the strut tower.

My wiring harness is a 95 dx wiring harness... no vtec inside of it I'm pretty sure. I think I'm just going to route the vtec wires inside, and then just let them hang out on the firewall side of the harness so I can route them to the ecu. that way it's not messy wiring, but it's not original either.

here is my question though, where should I leave the wires hanging out on the harness side? like should the vtec pressure wire be near which wires? Just trying to get an idea where everything needs to be hanging out for when my swap gets here

beetch I read it, but since you are using a DX harness you already have to pin out the ecu, and run it through the firewall. soooooo what I did was loom it up throught firewall, and it looks like factory wiring.
