Default wiring harness question

wow, so it's been a couple months since my last post...college definitley keeps me crazy busy...anyway here's my question.

i'm hoping to do a swap in my 94 hatchie soon, and i'm thinking of dropping in a D15Z1 motor (i think that's it)...the 1.5 V-TEC E....it gets great gas mileage..i can't be spending crazy amounts of money on gas out here...so my question is...with my current D15B8 (1.5 8v non-vtec) how hard would it be for me to wire in the v-tec e? and would a regular v-tec harness be the same as the v-tec e harness? just curious...thanks guys

the normal VTEC harness is three wires short of the VX harness.
I've never thought about the swap the other way... I'll try to dig up the wiring diagram to tell the difference.

are you getting the Z1 engine harness with the swap? or are you planning on using your CX harness?

btw 92-95 1.5L V-TEC E is the D15Z1, it came in the VX model.

You have to be careful, the vtec-e engines also run a 5-wire O2 sensor (requires custom wiring) and a P07 ecu.

It also has a very unique EGR system. Good luck with it!

I went through the 92-95 Service manual last night....a VX engine into a CX chassis will require 9 wires to be run to the shock tower from the ECU and one wire to be moved at the shock tower. But that is if you have the VX engine harness. If you want to use the CX harness you have to run 14 wires from the ECU to the respective sensors. (O2 and EGR related)

I have a VX/P07 ECU if you need it.

it would help a little if i had the VX harness, but those won't be included in the swap. does anyone happen to have a VX harness? and how hard would it be to run those 9 or 14 wires depending what route i go?

difficulty depends on your skill level. Sorry for the generic answer, but it really does. Basically if you understand a little about electrical wiring and are patient you can get it done.

I'll try to whip up a list of what wires you would need to add to your CX harness yet today. No promises on the time though, it may be tomorrow before I have a little time to get at it.
