I am just a B series whore....I didnt have the choice when I did my swap, starting with a d15b7. I never really even thought to buy a d16 and turbo it, cause my B series was a cheaper option

im a b-series whore too unfortunetly, like you I had a bad D series to start with, the b7. However, in the future I decided on my dads EG coupe we are going to swap a turbo D16 It should be alot of fun. All in all though, I still like my B16 more then I think I wouldve enjoyed a turbo D. More overall potential, even though its not cheaper it still has more potential then a D, there is very little arguement about that.

I have had a B16, 2 D16's, and one H23, I have a D16Z6 in my 94 Civic now, and wanted to do a swap, so I did all my research, and was going to go with a B series, and then I started adding up how much time and money it will cost me, plus the cost of mods for the B series, and availability of parts in my area, and it wasnt that bad, then I went to the wrecking yard to get one, and they didnt have one, I searched high and low for a B16 or 18, and when I found one they wanted way to much $$ for it. So I started lookin into a turbo or supercharger setup for my D16, and as far as that goes, im saving for one now. I found its much easyer to keep the motor you have, rebuild it with stronger parts, upgrade small things(ignition) and (I am going to supercharge it) but turbo's are fun too... I just think its easyer, plus if I blow this D16 up im not going to pay out the ass for another B series.

It all depends on what you want, if you just want a fun daily driver, Dseries, if you want a car that you always take to the track, and want to beat everyone, and want the bragging rights of having a B, then go with a B series..

Estimated cost of a total Bseries swap: $3000.00
Estimated cost of a Turbo Dseries :$1500.00
Winning a race against a N/A B series and seeing the look on the owners face when he sees you have a D16Z6 under the hood...Priceless.....

ls with gsr tranny>all. I like taking time. Get ls with gsr tranny and start saving for a turbo kit. After you have the kit even built d's will have trouble keeping up. Blow up the b18b, 400-500 for a new one.

I have been reading some of the replies to the d16z build up and I think I've missed something. Is Nitrous not an option?

I think nitrous is weak. h:

:eh: A turbo D could miss a shift against an N/A B16 and still win.

I know oc has different views on this, but first off, people try to put nitrous on a little bitty Dseries and expect some huge amount of power. Those that go too far end up ruining the motor prematurely. Nitrous is a cheap and somewhat dangerous way to create hp (depending on how it's done). Ever since TF&TF nitrous has become the simple way to slap hp on your car. I personally think nitrous should be used as a last resort. After you've done all that you can, then you bring in the N2O. Even then, alcohol or water injection might be a better choice.

I just see it as a band-aid for hp. That's jmo.

I have been reading an artical by speed-O-Motive on the latest thoughts and theory in an engine build up. Before that, I was under the same impression.

I would say b16 simply because the n/a setup would be more fun in the twisties.
