Default Del Sol/D16Z6 Question

Would it be safe to run the stock headers without the heatshield? Im needing to replace some bolts, but until then the heatshield rattles, so im curious if i can just run without it?

Let me know.

Most aftermarket headers don't have a heat shield.

the stock manifold is a heavy cast iron piece and gets really hot hence the need for heatshields in the first place. aftermarket headers are made of tubular steel. some are ceramic coated or have some other form of heat coating. so i'd venture to say they will run cooler than stock, but its not like i've checked how hot they get. just an assumption. :dunno:
