Okay, thanks, last time i looked mine didnt look cast iron though. They almost looked like a dulled shine on them.

If your header is still stock, then it's cast iron. And yes, it runs hotter than aftermarket ceramic coated headers.

And yes, it's safe to run without the heat shield. The temperature difference in the engine bay is negligible.

they're cheap....

and I've been running my stock exhaust manifold now for over a year without a heat shield.... :wiggle:
