Gas Mileage
I really don't know what it is. I have had a tune up recently and all, but I am getting really bad gas mileage. From a full tank of gas, I can maybe get 200 miles. All I have done engine wise is magnaflow full cat, ngk blue spark plug wires, and an AEM CAI. I do occasionally get on it pretty hard but that shouldn't make it where I get that bada gas mileage. The engine's got 123K on it. Anybody have idea's on what could be making me get such bad gas mileage. I'd really like to find out because gas prices going through the roof and the funds are running low. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

I take it that your car is a manual? What mods have you done to the car before you had it serviced. Could the clutch be slipping? What type of oil was used in the last tune-up for your engine and tranny?....I gained 100km, about 60miles off a tank, just from changing my oil to a better brand. Is your CAI clean? I know you obviously know this, but with 17's on the road, more rubber= more juice used. I know that you've probably thought of all of these, but I'm just saying what worked for me. Try the spark plugs and the spark plug leads, sometimes buying OEM works out better in more ways than one. What D-series motor are you running? Are you still using the stock ECU?
When I got my civic dx I was getting less than 120 miles off a tank.
bye bye carbs, auto tranny,
hello fuel injection, hello 5spd hello 282 in town, hello 397 on the highway
I know going from 17s back to 15s my mpg went up about 5-7mpg. 17" wheels just weigh so much more than stockers. Plus like flatfourfan said more rubber on the road=more rolling friction. Also get an alignment and make sure you O2 sensor isn't bad. When was the last time you got a tune-up? Especially with 120k+ miles.
Oil change, fuel filter changem tranny fluid change, valve adjustment, timing adjustment.

I still got my stock d16z6. I did a tune up (rotor button, distrib. cap, spark plugs, ngk blue wires) myself about 4-5 months ago and the fuel filter was changed about 8-12 months ago. I've got an automatic, does that still mean i need to change the tranny fluid? I'm not sure how to do a valve adjustment but I'm sure it needs one. Last time i did an oil change I put Castrol in there, I usually get Mobile 1, which I'm going to use again this time. What kind of oil do yall suggest I use? Thanks for the help, any more suggestions?
it is probably a combination of cold weather and other factors. a lot of people say to check the O2 sensor too.
on a side note...at least you dont have to pay $2.50 a/gallon for 87 octane.
