Default B18c + b16a = ????...

I think I asked this before but never got answer (or at least the answer I want ).
I'm swapping a b18c head in b16a block in my civic.
Has anybody seen this conversion before (I havent).
Someone told me that my engine was not gonna last with gsr head. could this be true?

i heard the b16 head flows better than the GSR head, so why would you do that kind of head swap.

why would you want the GSR head.....it is gonna lower your compression because of its bigger combustion chamber.

as far as head flow some say yes some say no...most say they flow pretty much the exact same. but why deal with that shitty intake mani setup?

I ask for a b16a2
The guy says that the one he got for me was in real bad shape or something and instead he was gonna give me this(b18-b16 sh*t) + headers and ITR tranny.
should I complain and ask them to get that engine out of there ?
(the car still not done although the engine is already on the car)

Also, how about reliability?

It also depends if you turbo it or not, more room in the chamber = more room for air....

yes, gsr head has a smaller combustion chamber than the b16a head.

i'd stick with the b16a head. the labor put in isn't worth the return.

He never got the b16 head thats why he gave me the gsr head. so should I be a dick and tell the guy to get me the sir head or should I just save me the trouble of being another month without my car?
and yeah I'm planning to boost it in the next couple of months.

B18C1 head has a small combustion chamber so it's going to raise your compression ratio. It's also a more modern design (the B16A/B18C5 Type R head has been around since '89 I think, the B18C1 only since '94). The only major issue I have with what I've read so far is your buying and engine that's in such bad shape, the guy doesn't want to sell you the orignal head with the motor. If the work is done properly, a new headgasket, new headbolts, the head and block are flush and everything's torqued properly, you shouldn't have a problem, it will be a strong as stock but if the engine's been ragged on and the heads just slapped on, your going have issues, especially witha turbo. I'd consider looking elsewhere for your engine.
