Default Fan settings

Today when I turned on my my blower for my hvac system the first two fan settings will not blow any air. 3 and 4 seem to work fine, just not 1 and 2. Hopefully this makes sense and any comments or sugg are appreciated.

Sounds like the blower resistor has gone bad. It's located up in the dash behind the glove box. I'm not sure if you have to take the blower housing out or not to replace it. It's about $25 from Honda. Here's where it's located and how to replace it.

Here's a pic that you can show the dealer if you need to. It's number 5 on the diagram.

for a '97 DX the honda part number is 79330-SR3-A01 (Resistor, Blower)
it's either that or wiring in the car or the switch itself. I'd bet it's the resistor unless you've been messing with something in that area of the car lately.

thnks for the timely replies, the wiring may be the problem but i will check that out. The light behind the hvac controls sometimes goes out but comes back on after a light tap so there may possibly be a wiring problem. Thanks for the detailed info I appreciate it greatly.

tapping the hvac controls is a very common problem. the lights go bad behind there. replacing them isn't a fun task, but it is possable.
