Brakes are killing me! Please help.
I have been trying to finish up my brake swap for about a week now. I'm finished underneath the car, that part was easy. I'm encountering problem after problem under the hood, most of which seems to be because I have a non abs civic and I'm having trouble finding parts that will work with what I have. I got a power booster and a master cylinder from a 96 integra with abs. I got a proportioning valve from a 99 civic si that went right in. The master cylinder I have has a flare nut hole that is bigger than everything else, I'm guessing because of the abs on the integra. Is it pointless to continue with the booster and cylinder that I have? If so, what can I use on a non abs civic that will still be an upgrade? I need this project done really bad, and I dont care what I have to buy to finish at this point.
To use your MC, you gotta cut that line, find the fitting that goes in that hole and reflare it and rebend it (at least with an EG). I used a 1" GS-R ABS MC in my old hybrid and that's what I had to do. If you do decide to do that, take the line out of the car, clamp the flaring tool in a vice and do it that way. Much easier than trying to balance everything in your hand (some parts store tubing to practice flaring on is a good idea too). I looked under the hood of a buddies later model (don't know the year, wasn't that good a buddy) Type R and his MC wasn't the same, it was standard 2 smaller attachments. Might consider doing some junkyard diving for late model Integra's and see what you find.

Andy, where did you find the right fitting?
Autozone doesn't have one, I tried that already, the dude gave me a brake line that half fit and with about half of a turn the fitting popped right out. That wouldn't hold up under braking pressure.

Mine came out of the Integra the MC was from, I just made sure I got both. We just hacked off that brake line with the fitting rather than unbolting it from the MC when we removed it so I knew I had it. Since I'm home and have access to my digital camera pics, here one of the line installed. You can't really tell much and my bending job was pretty bad (I was worried about kinking the line after all the work of flaring it) but it never leaked and worked perfectly. Make sure you have a flare nut wrench to work on fittings like this though.
