Default Just got my civic...

I just got my 1998 Honda Civic EX. Its pretty nice, got 96,000 on it and I got it for 6400. I took it to a performance shop to check out all the mechanics, and its in pretty good mechanical condition, and very good cosmetic condition. It's milano red and I was wondering what the first mod I should do. I was thinking lip kit, paint stock sideskirts, lower, get some 00 tails, intake, and MAYBE exhaust, but only a quiet one.

good start....go w/ the basix...IHE, then the stereo has to go! lips are nice, but for the 300, i'd put it towards some better rubber...get some SI wheels, and good tires....I actually got my skirts painted when i had other stuff done. threw them in for free. as to the tails...its cosmetic. i have them on mine and it looks great, but keep in mind, EVERY kid with a civic and no clue replaces tail lights, so i'm actually liking seeing 96-98 tails on cars again...it is more unique than 99-00s and *gasp* altezzas

Thats a little much to pay for 96,000 miles. What kind of mods are you really looking towards? Performance or Looks. If looks, I would go with the lip kit...

this has to be the 4354395809835th "what mod should I do first?" thread.

Doesn't sound like you want a swap, so just go I/H/E as recommended above.

As for the tails, NO! Don't even think about tezzas. I will hurt you.

forget i/h/e, the net gains r minimal and all ur gonna get is sound. remove ur resonator, get a k&n filter. you should start by doin suspension, that alone will make ur car much more fun to drive. shocks, coilovers, itr sway, ect. imo thats what i would of done for my first mod. have fun.

I said 99-00 tails man...no altezza's for me. I think I'm just oging to black the bottom part out of lack of money.

6400 was around kbb so I didnt get gypped, and in Kansas, cars are few adn far between. thanks.

I don't want a really loud, ricey exhaust, what is a low, quiet one that is somewhat cheap?

Thanks dude, I love your car so much. What size rims are those? Do you think I should keep my stock wheels? they're only 14 inches though but they look good, even better if i dropped it. I think I'm going to black the bottom part out of my tails untill I can afford Si lights. What I really want to know is that can you lose hearing because of a muffler/exhaust? My brother had one on his 95 teg, it was a low deep tone but VERY loud. He lost slight hearing, so what would you do? Can't spend much though...

That will not look good. Red out the bottom, it'll look much nicer, especially considering your car is red. Btw, all 99-00 Civics had red/clear tails, not just the Si.
