Default Redlined

i'm running the p73 ecu with my b18c spec r, but i've only been able to take it up to 8500 rpms at most before the motor gets cut off...arent these ECUs supposed to go all the way to 8900??? im a little confused about it...its a stock ecu but i have a VAFC attached with no settings, no fuel changes, vtec crossover at 5500 rpms, is that the stock crossover too?...could that be causing it to cut off at 8500? also if it makes a difference the stock EX harness was used and an obd2a to obd2b adapter was used to hook up to the ECU. Thanks

why would you want it to rev any higher? it's not making more power above redline.

I agree. Unless you're on a dyno and seeing that you're still making power at that RPM level, what is the need to rev it higher?

it should only be going to 8400. when you start getting close to 9000 youre going to start running into floating valves and whatnot unless youve beefed up your head. i wouldnt go much over 8500

No such thing as a JDM B18C5, perhaps you meant a JDM B18C-R. They don't stamp the last digit on JDM motors. At any rate, I don't know where you are getting your information from, but you might wanna look else where for information. Here's a picture of a JDM ITR Cluster

the motor i got is a JDM B18C type r 98spec...and the p73 ecu is for that motor correct...so redline should 8900 but its cutting off at 8500...just want to know whats goin on...

edit: well by looking at the jdm cluster guess redline is at 8500...weird that most websites i looked at said redline was 8900...
