Default 93si HB.

...Hi guys,

I have a 93 si with the original engine in it.
I know its a SOHC vtec engine not sure about block #.
(Im at work so I cant check right now )

My engine is almost @ 220K miles and im thinking about doing an engine swap.
This will be my first swap to ever do.

I would like to do the swap myself ( which I will ) with the help of some manuals and my friend.

Im thinking about swapping in a GS-R Engine ( B18c1) since I was told thats the easiest fit.

What parts could I still use from my stock engine to work with the GSR engine. ( Looking for a 96-98 B18c1)

So far I have DCSPorts headers , AEM cold air, No muffler- Straight from Cat to resonator tip.

What should I get with the New engine.
Axles, ECU etc......not to familiar with engine swaps and what parts are needed for thei hybrid. Thats why Im here to ask the pro's.

Thanks,

You should have no problem swaping in any B-series motor into your car. Make sure that when you get the parts you have everything (ECU, linkage, axles, intermediate shaft, mounts). You can reuse your stock motor mounts seeing as they come off a D16Z6. If you are planning to get a 96-98 B18C1 than you will either have to rewire your car to use the 96-01 ECU or you can get yourself a 94-95 ECU because your car is wired up as OBD1 right now and the 96-01 GSR is OBD2.

Your better off getting a 94-95 Gsr. Easier. Umm you will need the tranny, upper driverside mount, and rear mount off a 94+ tegra. And the 2 torque ,mount from you stock civic. they are the ones on the lower front of the motor and tranny you have one on each side. you will need the linkage off the tegra. Ecu from the tegra. ummm you can use your stock harness it will all plug in as long as you get a OBD1 GRS. And you will need tegra axels. Thats it. Install the tranny, harness to the motor then the half shaft then the motor is ready to be dropped in. Once in you will have to install the axels and plug all the vacs, hose, and other things and your done. Drive it to your local muffler shop and have the flange turned on your piping.

Any B-series engine swap will be about the same amount of work and fitment. The header and intake won't fit the gsr motor though.

have you checked out hybrid garage's matrix? http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/5gtech/index.html answers some of your basic questions.

That's a D16Z6, if you sell it as a complete swap it is still worth ~$450 to the right people.

Excellent!..................I was thinking of just taking the engine apart and learning the parts and shit....Just to familiarize myself with the parts.
I mean the engine is pretty old so im not sure if its worth selling a 220k miles engine.

Don't do that to a Z6, buy a worthless engine to do that to... like a D15B8 (CX 8 valve.)

and to think. My brother had bought that car brand new in 93 and never had a problem.
Not even an oil leak.
Ohh did I forget to mention the original clutch is still in use.
No slipping or anything. ( Maybe cause I have 3 cars to choose from and drive. )

What if I just started to modify it how much power can i really get out of the Z6 engine?

My ideal thing is to get this car up to 300hp just like what I did to my VW.
