Default A costly day... clutch, tranny, linkage???

I was making a u-turn yesterday when something went terribly wrong on my 94 civic D15 with 100,000mi. When I made the turn I slapped hard into gear and gave it full power(not much with a D15) and it gripped for a few seconds. Then nothing. None of the gears work now and I thought I heard some grinding but it may have been the loose exhaust heat shield. Before I have it towed to a shop, I'd like to know what the problem is. Any easy way of finding out if it's the clutch, tranny, or just a broken linkage cable? I couldnt see anything yesterday night. All this on top of the $300 dollar speeding/expired plates ticket I got in the morning. Well, no more speeding. The car is about three miles from me and I'm new to the city so no truck or garage to tow/work on it myself.

Also, any trusted mechanics in Portland?

your whole transmission has completely disintegrated, now you must swap in a b18b, get a gsr tranny, lsd, then turbo it all. That is clearly the cheapest fix.

Honestly, if it was my tranny I would swap in something... although not too expensive. I have a feeling it's just the clutch though. Now to find a reasonably priced trustworthy mechanic. I havent met one yet, do they exist?

Where are you located? There is a decent guy who specializes in imports here in Rhode Island....

what do you mean none of the gears work? The shifter will not physically go into any of the gears? You do'nt have a clutch cable on a 94, you have a hydraulic clutch, so it's possible that you have a bad master or slave cylinder.

When the car lost power, did the engine rev up as though the clutch was slipping? More details please.

As it turns out, I got some advice from Hondaswap and I found out it is the axle. It broke at the CV joint. When I put the car in any gear with the ebrake on, the axle just spins. Thanks to everyone that tried to help!
