Default strut tower flexing?

does everyones cars have the stress/stretch mark thingies on your strut towers? Bakeoff just pointed that out to me yesterday at a meet, and said it was somewhat normal, i was like :wtf: ?

I have a 6th gen civic, anyone else notice this? its like the metal is kinda getting crunched/stretched/twisted a bit, you can see some stress areas in the metal.

Anyone hear about problems with this?

Maybe i should stop doing clutch drops and sliding around corners :rick:

What size engine do you have in it, are you low or stock, and do you have a sway bar or other suspension upgrades?

setup:

stock d16y8 with mild boltons (IHE, TB, FPR)
eibach pro kit springs on kyb gr2 struts (about a 1.5" drop all around)
front neuspeed strut tower bar, GSR rear sway bar, stock front sway bar.

the stress just shows up as some smallish ripples.

I know what you meen but I have never seen it in a honda, I always see it in drag cars, the twist of everything tweaks the front fender wells... I would look into this more, I am not totaly sure, but that does not sound normal to me... Maybe if you had a H22 or 23 in there, then you have the weight to make stress marks like that. But with what you have now, all I can say is check your suspension for wear, I have almost the same setup on my 94 Civic: stock D16Z6 Mild boltons
eibach pro complete kit, shocks and springs 2" drop GSR rear sway bar, and Front titanium strut tower bar. I have never seen anything like that in my car, and I go autocross once a week, and on the weekends....

What brand of strut bar do you have? Quality of materials/design/manufacturing is going to show up with stress.

Neuspeed 4 point?!?! Mounted on the shock bolts? Thats what I have with the same springs. I haven't checked to see if i might have the same thing you are describing but that worries me. The suspension setup isn't even that extreme to begin with as for as ride harshness and body stress from amount of lowering. I'm going to go check my car out right now.
