Default need 2 get code for civic stereo????

Ok, my problem is that i bought an Si and it doesn't have the owners manual which supposedly has the code. The local Honda dealership (Elk Grove, CA) told me that i have to take out the deck and retrieve the serial number from the back so that they can cross reference the Honda database. That seems like the solution but i dont know how to get the thing out. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Assuming that it is a 6th generation Civic (1996-2000) because you didn't specify, check out the attachment. The instructions are actually for installing a tape player, but it shows you how to remove your dash components - just ignore the rest. Oh if you take the unit out and leave your dash unassembled to go to the dealership, plug in the hazard flashers button if nothing else, or your turn signals won't work. If you do have an older generation Civic, I can try and find the instructions, but I make no promises.

I just saw your other post, and since you do have a 2000 Civic Si, you're all set!

Did you see the PDF I attached? It shows you exactly how to take your head unit out so that you can get the serial number off of it. Like you dealership told you, you have to get them the serial number off the head unit so they can cross reference the security code.

If you're a techy you can hook it upto a comp and brute force the code. I read about that somewhere on this board. Dunno how to do it though.
