I HATE jacking up my car.. i think i bent my subframe!!!!!!!
^^i don't want to put the jack stands on the subframe cuz of what just happened. i want to put them on the actual jack points on the sides.. but read above what i posted about the jack stands. should i use a 2x4?
should i use a 2x4 on the jack when i jack from the tow hook?
and can i use a 2x4 on the jack stands so the v of the jack stands doesn't crunch my side skirt like it did before(if my description of the jack stands doesn't make sense i can take a pic)

i'll jack from the lowest part of the rod. i don't think i'll be able to jack it up high enough to get the jack stands under the jack points. what jacks do you guys use?
its raining out bad right now so im not workin on it

I use wood blocks. It spreads the contact point of the jack or jackstands over a larger area. But 99% of the time when I'm raising or lowering a car, I'm using a lift. I've given up on doing big jobs with driveway tools. I always break something.
Don't worry about your sub-frame. You can't see it when the car's on the ground, and you'd be surprised what most people's look like. Many garages don't even know how to raise and lower a car properly, so most older cars are pretty beat up under there. It won't affect how it drives.
Look further in away from the body, and you may see another frame reinforcement on the underbody. The outer points where you use a service jack aren't actually parts of the frame on most cars. They're made for your service jack, not a floor jack.

And in VA... See... I've already been bitching about it because I do have some driveway things I need to do, too. In this thread...
