yeh was i was driving today I noticed that my stock exhaust started sounding loud and like one of those fart cans only at low revs...waht do u think is wrong...i mean i do beat on my car...rev it hard but i dunno what it is....btw i have a 97 civic lx with 106k...lemme kno

 

your exhaust is probebly rotted out, you need a new one. while you're at it just get a performance one

 

^ why would i do that...first off just a muffler doesnt giave ne power...they sound gay...and i have an auto which would make it sound even worse...i thin its so dumb to put an exhuast on an auto car...they sound so bad

 

Might be the infamous "tuning fork" exhaust hanger. It's a metal exhaust hanger that bolts onto the back of your engine and bolts to the downpipe/cat depending on which car you have. They're on all civics. It could have broken loose or could be touching something.

That exhaust hanger is really a POS and usually responsible for all kinds of messed up exhaust sounds. They do frequently rust out and break just like the Honda/Acura's exhaust B-pipes do every 3-5 years. Joe's right. It's probably rusted out by now.

 

Actually exhaust can help you free up some horsepower...

And whats wrong with an auto sound? I don't think they sound bad...

 

Mine was broken when I replaced my pipes , and I didnt even realize it. It had been broken for so long that I had no sound to go by, it just always kinda sounded like that.

 

:eh: dont come over here and put me down when im giving you advice, i didnt say your muffler was rotted out i said your EXHAUST, reading > yoU. and they dont sound ghey, how would you like it if i said your auto was ghey? you wouldnt like it, dont put anyone down for suggesting anything or giving you advice. and exhausts DO give power, they free it up by letting the exhaust gases pass through without as much restriction. :slap:

one more thing...do u kno what causes a hole in it...and do u know how much it is to get fixed..i was plannin on sellin this car after summer...
