entire A/C system, most likely a new compressor, a new dryer, all new seals, and a charge. Count on $500 or more for all the stuff, and a proper installation.

A/C is not cheap to install or fix. In all of the cars I've owned, if the A/C is broken, I'll rip it all out. I don't want to mess with leaky seals, bad compressors and expensive freon. The 50 pounds off and less parasitic drag just happens to be a nice side effect of the removal.

I've gone through two Virginia summers (hot and very humid) in a black car with a grey leather interior. Hell, I haven't had a car with working A/C in the past... four years now.

Well I fixed my ac last summer by buying a beater civic for $300 and I removed the ac system and a few other parts for my car. But yeah you can shop around for the best price. $500 I guess is a good number. Try contacting WCS see what he has.

You should still have the evaporator in the car, so you need lines, accumulator, compressor, a condensor, and the wires that go behind the right headlight.

Revove the battery. Behind it towards the bottom, there is an oval opening. If you see an aluminum piece with two holes in it, you have an evaporator. BTW, I do have a full a/c setup minus the evaporator from a 94 Civic for sale.

hey, don't call me an idiot!

Keep your eye on the FS/T/WTB forum, people regularly remove their A/C and try to sell the parts. If you try and buy it new, you'll end up spending a fortune (like upwards of $700 probably, there are LOTS of parts for the A/C).

You'll need a compressor w/ bracket and pulley, belt, evaporator, dryer, condenser w/ fan and wiring, about fifteen feet of lines, countless brakets, bolts, thingys and doodads. Taking the a/c out is just an hour or two of drunken destruction, but putting it back in is a BIG job.
