trailing arm bushing question
Im trying to install mugen trailing arm bushings and I need to know if the shell thats in the arm right now has to be removed? or does the new bushing go pressed into that shell. I searched and found a lot of good info but that question was never answered and I cant tell from alot of the pictures that I found. thanks.
Do your Mugen bushings have a steel sleeve around the bushing? The factory bushing is rubber formed around a steel sleeve, which when the rubber splits on the attachment points Resulting in removing the rear trailing arm assembly(bitch if you run into seized bolts)and pressing the bushing sleeve out on a press or possibly a B.F.Hammer .Use a large diameter tube or a old hub bearing race(thatas what i used) to press the old bushing out. same procedure to install just make sure the mount rod with the holes is positioned correctly so it will bolt up to the floor mount.. Hope this helps. JOE
make sure you scribe a line on the TA to align the new bushing up with, and make sure the arrows if applicable are pointing in the right direction. there is another bolt you are supposed to loosen after the bushings are installed and the tires are on the ground, other wise the new bushing will be under stress, and wear out faster..
