Default What should i do to my car???

Well im new to the board and just bought me a new 98 civic DX for 8700 dollars and im real happy about being able to mod it now. Id like to know what yall think i should do to my car first. I thought about getting me a CAI but i dont know which ones are better...ive heard that AEM and APC are good but ive heard that AEM gives you about 20 HP while APC only gives you 15. Id also like to know which exhaust to get and then what headers. Im sure once i get the right combination of i/h/e ill be able to beat all them V8s! Ive seen some nice Hondas around here with holes drilled in their bumper and wondered if that made that airflow around the car better also. I dont think it will take much to beat some V8s b/c our cars are so light but every little bit helps. Also, what body kits would yall reccomend for better aerodynamics around my car when im racing? Ive seen many and wondered which wing and body kit would help me out the most. My friend with his Trans Am keeps on telling me that he would pound me but ill admit that while im stock he could but once i get some headers and intake and some exhaust and stuff ill be ready to run him. Thanks for your help.

Do not get APC, they suck, I have learned my lesson about that. You dont have headers you have a header. Even with I/H/E you are not going to be able to beat V8's. People around here really dont like bodykits, the like the clean look. But its your car so you can do whatever you want with it.

ok, first off, AEM and APC are not comparable, period. id say get an AEM CAI, dc sports ceramic header, and a magnaflow catback exhaust. if you want to beat some v8's then you should seriously consider forced industion. build the engine up for turbo and then you can take them(on the drag strip of course). the people on the forum arent fans of body kits or anything like that, they like cars that are very subtle, like lip spoilers and 16 inch or under rims. and please dont think you can beat him just because you have an intake and exhaust, you might be able to get about 5-10hp from those three upgrades.

but seriously. if its a DX the first think you should do is swap out the motor. A DX motor would not be my first choice for forced induction

what engine would i swap to? Doesnt mine have the one with 130HP or is that something else...i thought for sure i had 130 and thought that would be something good to start with. Also, ive seen cars around here with custom wheels upfront but regular ones on the back...does this make a difference in the acceleration or something? Sorry im just trying to learn about all this car stuff, im pretty new to it.

not really i just want to be able to beat some V8s and i thought id just be able to add a good intake and exhaust and pick up some horses with just that...i mean Trans Ams are slow as shit as im concerned and im sure a civic could take one with little money put into it. I just need some suggestions on what to get. Are yall saying that i shoudlnt get the body kit and the wing and all that? My friend said that his Trans Am has some head and cam work (LOL he spent 2000 on some head and cam work and he says that its suppose to help out a lot or something...sounds like :bs: to me) some pulleys, exhaust and some long tube headers. So im sure that if i do pretty much the same that id be able to run him. Any thoughts?
