Default Cracked manifold...

Sorry to resurect this thread from the dead (and on my first post too), but my fiancee's 98 DX coupe (99,000 mi), seems to have a cracked exhaust manifold.

From what I can tell, Honda TSB 98-081 covers this problem (which seems to be fairly common), up to 150k miles (and 14 years) on 96 & 97 cars, but only up to 80k miles on 98 & 99.

But I've also seen a lot of people say that their dealer went ahead and fixed the problem under waranty for 98 or 99 cars with more than 100k miles.

So -- has anyone had any luck recently getting the manifold replaced free at the dealer on a 98 or 99 civic?

Thanks in advance!

just give it a shot man. call up the dealership and ask them about it, and go ahead and set up an appointment to take the car in.

if there's any hick-ups you might encounter, they've pretty much been addressed. the 1-800 number and all for customer service, and go from there.

$20 says they'll fix it for you.

I love this thread

Hello, everyone. I believe this is my first post in HAN history, so sorry everyone for gravedigging or if I'm breaking some thread rule, but this is such good info, that I felt it had to be bumped again.

... especially if there's more uninformed, like myself, who are running at 147K (like myself). I don't want anyone to miss an opportunity to bring their car back up to par and to get it for free!!! Thanks OP.

I got my manifold replaced this past week, but they did not install heat shields/covers on the upper manifold or cat. Was this the case with you all as well, or do I need to go back and make them put new covers on?

BTW, thanks to this forum. That's how I found out about the extended warrany.
