Default 18 month old oil with 1700kms - OK?

I just bought a 'new' 2003 EL with only 1700kms. The car was manufactured 18 months ago. Even though I suspect the 1700kms were spread out evenly over the 18 months (demo rides), I'm wondering if I should change the oil based on the age only. Details appreciated.
-thanks, Mike.

Yes, you should. Oil doesn't only break down under heat and such, but it can collect moisture from starting the engine and stopping. You should change your oil at least every six months.

Every six months or every 5000 kms. Those are the conditions.

Three "change it now" responses was good enough for me. Done last Saturday (first two services by the dealer are free anyways! :-{). -thanks to the responders

i dont trust allot of the manufacturer's suggestions because i've seen time and time again that these suggestions suck.

i suggest you do the 3months/3000k. wichever comes first. i know the honda oil is nice and all. but why risk it? that car costed a nice chunk of change. do what you can to make it last.

I would change all the fluids to play it safe. Brake fluid, transmission, power steering, even maybe drain the gas since it's prolly all gunked up from sitting so long.
