ok, i did a search and couldn't find any threads on how to remove cluster. i just got a gauge cluster with a tach and wanted to swap it in my 95 hatch. my question is how do you remove the piece on the dash(the one thats one piece with the driver vent and center vents? i took off the two screws on top, is it just clipped in?

 

no you have to pull out the hazard switch, there is another screw in there, then it is clipped on be careful though otherwise you might break the drivers side vent it is a pain in the ass.

 

ok thanks, now how do you pull out the hazzard switch? it was so much easier to swap clusters in my ek.

Hmmm...I don't think there's a screw behind the hazard switch (unless mine is missing, but I don't remember seeing a tab or hole for one). You do, however, still need to pull the plug from the back of the hazard switch and the clock, if you have one. After that...just yank the thing out, but be careful not to bend it too far so it doesn't crack. Then, 4 screws holding the gauge cluster in, pull the plugs out of that, and you're good. Putting the new one back is just as easy, the plugs only go in 1 way.

Yeah, mine was a bitch to get out, it got hung up on the driver's side vent part. You have to kind of work it out, it probably won't just pop out.

 

just pull semi-hard. Make sure the 3 screws holding it in are out. I put felt all over my clips, so its extremely hard to pull out now, but I've never broken my cluster trim, even from pulling it hard.

thanks for all the help, got it all swaped out but at the cost of one clock blocker. oh well, excuse for a clock now. considering i don't have a clock, the wiring and all were "pluged" into the block piece. weird. but now i have a tach to race this 70 hp beast...haha
