Default 94 Civic Ex B18C5. A new beginning.

What's up people. I'm new to this board, I drive a 94 Civic Ex. I jus bought the car about a month ago, got a couple simple bolt-ons, but nothin special yet.

Me and some locals down here have a small car club, SicRacing.com. Check it out if you want.

I also have a 90 Camaro Iroc, it's got a few mods, and I ran a 13.998 @ 97mph with jus a muffler and a 2100 stall convertor. I have a few mods now and should be running high 12's, low 13's, @ 105ish. Unfortunately, I keep blowing tranny's in the damn car.

Big plans for the civic. I been wanting an import project car for awhile now, so I figured I might as well start with a great civic. 5th Gen's Rule, IMO.
Gunna probably go the B18C5 way, haven't seen any of them running around Arizona yet (i'm sure there's some here though). Anyone here done this swap, and got some dyno #'s or track times??

Anyways, jus thought I would register here since most the people here seem pretty cool (hard to find on honda boards). I will post progress of the civic as it happens.

Here's a couple pictures of it now.My civic...

What do you want out of your car and engine?

You could build and turbo your d16z6 and beat b18c5's for less money.

Do you want to stay N/A or are you willing to go FI?

Can't tell much from those pics, but the car looks pretty good.

I also question your choice for the 'mighty' C5. What are your goals?

My Jdm itr b18c dyno'd 179whp and 125 tq hitting my gov in 4th. If you are going to build it and drag race, i'd go with a b18c1. For the price of the c5 you could start building the c1 NA.

well i do wanna go b18. i would settle on a c1, if the price is right. but honestly, i can only find c1 swaps for $800-$900 less than the c5. i can get the jdm c5 for $4k, which isn't that expensive. that'll be a good enough start.

i know the z6 has alot of boostin' potential, but i would much rather have something quick n/a. and i really don't see the point in building the z6 to handle high boost...

as far as F/I goes...i wanna go supercharger (not for awhile, but eventually), not turbo. and yes i know the benefits of boostin with turbo, but i want power thats always there.

my goals for the civic for now would be low 13's.....maybe a dip into the 12's but also good drivability. enough to enjoy myself at the track, and be able to whoop some ass on the streets.

Good choice my man! I just did the swap and it pulls crazy. I wheel hop going into 5th gear which is insane. If you're getting an actual JDM ITR motor, it should only read B18C for block code instead of having the C5. As for installation, piece of cake. Motor drops right in. Only problem is the block height is slightly higher. So you have hood clearance issues and correct header fitment issues. But wiriing harness plugs right in. The only thing that requires some fabrication is the radiator mounting spot. I myself prefer the big integra radiator over the small half size civic one. So if you want that, it requires some welding skills. I have pics of my finished car if you want to see them.
Oh yeah, for comfortability, it's a cool everyday driver but the torque lag on it sucks ass. It's a road race engine so you kind of have to rev it alot higher to accelerate like normal cars. But like you said, you can drive it everyday without running into problems and it's still a 13 sec car on the track. I'm actually going to Fontana Speedway this Saturday to time the car. I can guarantee 100% that I will break 13's with my 17 inch rims. If I decide to throw 15 inch with some slicks, I definitely will break into high 12's. Like 12.9 or 12.8.
