Default clunking from coilovers

Hey everyone!! I dont know if this is the right forum so feel free to move if necessary. I helped a friend install a set of Dropzone struts and coilovers. The ride isnt too bad, a lot better than stock shocks with coilovers. My question is, whenever the car goes over rough road(We live where there is alot of road construction and old cobble stone roads), it sounds like the springs are banging against the sleeve that lowers the car. I can see where the spring rubs against it because some of the 'thread' is worn off. I have the rubber o-rings inbetween the sleeve and the strut itself, the rubber ring that goes between where the spring sits on the perch and the ring that goes between the strut tower cover and the spring. Did I miss a rubber o-ring somewhere? Its only on the front two struts. It has about a 2-2.5 inch drop, if that matters at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

If you could take a pic & post it that might help.. but the spring shouldn't rub agains the threads.. i'm wondering if you have the adjustable rings up-side down because there should be a ring there athat the spring fit's into perfectly with out any side to side motion. a picture would definatly help..

I'll try to get a pic up. Gotta find the digi camera first. I'll take a look at the perches or the adjustable rings and look to see if they are upside down.

could be the threaded tower bottoming out... I had a cheap set of coilovers that did that.

I bought some ground controls - bam problem solved.

I suggest pulling the rim off, and looking closely at the threaded tower - take pictures like said before, and get back to us.

I suggest saving for ground control coilovers - and new shocks

BTW: your shocks may be blown...

Did you cut the bump stops? You might need to.

I have a question like that too.. my rear pass. side had this weird clunking sound, like it was hitting something, i finally figured out that the top of it is popping up and hitting the supports behind the rear seats. This is on a 91 accord. Are they going up because i need to cut the bump stops? Cuz its kinda annoying.

Like its the actual top part of the strut where you bolt the 2 nuts down and the adjuster is in that part... the whole thing is moving.

Alas, I found out what it was. After taking everything apart and reassembling, still nothing. Took it apart one more time but went a lil further. When we installed the cast/camber kit and took it to get everything aligned, the idiot at the shop didnt tighten the screws to lock in the alignment. He didnt know what he was doing, what an idiot. There goes $80 out the window. Now we know. Thanks for all your help.

Go back and demand your money back and a new alignment.

Are you sure that he did not tighthen them, several camber kits are known to have slipping problems becuase they will not stay tight, lost of people use locktite on thier camber kits.
