Default Lowering road noise

I have noticed while riding in my 95 CX HB (no mods yet other than sound system) that my car picks up quite a bit more road noise than a lot of my friend's cars. I was wondering if there is anything one can do to reduce the rumble of the road and make it a quieter ride.

What kind of tires are you running? Are they going bald?

Joe is right. My car isn't making any loud noise it just isn't keeping out the sound of the road while on highways very well.

You can buy some type of sound deadening for your car- either spray or mat. You strip the interior (seats/carpet) and lay or spray the deadening on the floorboard. If you want it to be as quiet as possible and want to really get into it, you can strip your dash and door panels and deaden them as well. Dynamat, Raammat, Peel and Seal, B-Quiet, Secondskin, eDead, plus many other products are out there for this.

It actually works quite well- audio gurus praise sound deadening.

They most definitely do h:

Always gotta compromise....

As a reference, good quality sound deadening should weigh, if I had to guess, around .3 lbs per sqft. I would say to reduce a decent amount of road noise, you would probably have to use anywhere from 150-200 sqft, or add 45-60 lbs of weight, and remember this is pretty much non-removable.

CX = no sound deadening whatsoever.
