civic wiring problem
just been replacing the stereo in my 92 civic with a new cd player - the problem: no power. checked all fuses, replaced a blown one (backup 7.5 amp) under the hood to solve, but no luck. there seems to be no charge/power at all in the 12v + acc/ignition wire coming to the harness (the 12v + constant is fine). i tried following this through the bulkhead and checked it there, still no power. where's the problem!!???
it's pissing me off, any ideas? (i'll post this in the audio section too...)
cheers.

best thing to do is just work your way back along that wire and find out where it starts getting power... you should find the problem there. also what is your car? I might be able to get your a wiring diagram so you can figure things out
i was wondering if i could somehow tap into the ignition wiring instead of trying to follow the 12v + acc/ignition wire through the bulkhead and towards the battery (which i have been trying to no avail as yet). has anyone done this? would anyone suggest it? or am i likely to screw something up?! any ideas appreciated.

ok so the 12+acc and 12+ constant are good at the radio harness right? Have you checked the ground wire at the harness.>? That and the 2 fuses are the only things I can think off. Unless the radio has shorted. That happened to me and I had to get another radio. Stock radio right?
here's the story: i just bought the car last month, it came with a crappy cassette player (not stock). that worked on and off, and i wanted to get rid of it anyway. the new head unit is an aiwa. when i connected it there was no power. all the fuses are good as i said, but there is no power from the 12v + acc/ignition original wiring (at the harness). the original 12v + constant works fine at the harness. that's why i'm so baffled!
I'm curious how your cassette player functioned then.....as for tapping into the acc wires its possible but I would just work on this a little more til you figure it out.. It's better to do things right the first time
I had a similar problem with a 10-year-old civic that I purchased. A previous owner had hacked the wiring harness and I was unable to get +12 volts on either the +ACC wire or the constant +12 volt wire.
My solution was to run two new wires from the fusebox under the dash which has several places where you can attach wires using crimp-on type of electrical connectors. Be sure to use an inline fuse on these new wires as I am unsure if these connections are fuse protected.
I hope this helps.
