pulled head from d16z6
i am pulling my d16z6 to swap into another honda, i pulled the head and inspected the cylinder walls, they still have the crosshatching from the factory after 207k miles!i want a new jdm piston and ring kit while i have it apart, if so do i have to buy a new gasket set for the oil pan, can i use gasket maker for the intake and oil pan gaskets??? do i have to re hone the cylinder walls if i get new rings and pistons?? i know i need a new head gasket, and i am just going to clean the head up, if i pull the valves out of the head do i have to get a valve job to re seat them??
well the rule of thumb is that if you taking something apart to the point that something else can be done, then you might as well do it. Kinda like replacing the timing belt+water pump. Sure you could just do one but why not do both since youvae already gone through all that trouble taking it apart.
I agree, in fact get a Hondata gasket. They're about $60 and well worth it.
You can reuse the oil pan gasket, but be sure not to overtighten it or it will leak. Also, DO NOT use RTV on the oil pan gasket. It will rip the gasket if put on incorrectly. It's not needed.
Where you are now, I'd replace the headgasket, intake gasket, exhaust gasket and possibly the timing belt & tensioner.

I ask because of the Corksport reference.
On topic, I would do new gaskets, don't half ass anything.
The hondata intake manifold gasket is a good idea too, though the d series gasket was hard to get hold of when I was trying to get one.
