Default What now? adding nitrous...

I have a 92 civic DX, my last engine blew and I did not have the B-series funds, but needed transportation so I replaced my d15 with a d16z6 out of an EX.

I have an AEM intake, DC sports header, 5 zigen exhaust, hi flow cat, just the basics done. Now I am adding a ZEX system.

What should I due next to get the most power from the current mods, and add new power? And with what is currently done is the 65hp jet safe to use, or should I stick with the 55?

Also other then upgrading my sparkplugs, wires etc. What are good things to protect the engine from damage? Engine has about 70k on it.

Thank you for any help and suggestions.

I'm certainly not an expert but I'd say you will need better (stronger) connecting rods with that much boost....

you can safely run 55 shot....can run a 65 with colder plugs and slightly retarded times.

If you want you could get new/stronger valves and springs, its cheap and easy to do yourself..... Colder plugs are a must if you are going with Nitros. Dont go cheap if you are messin with Nitros, the head is one of the most important things. Also, what kind of injectors do you have? If there stock I would replace them with higher flow. That way your not runing to lean.....

you dont need bigger injectors....the 55 shot is designed for stock application....soooo 65 means you need colder plugs and retarded timing to keep it in safe range....PM widebodyek if you want some advice on nitrous......also...search there is a huge write up on nitrous already posted

Thanks for all the help, good information!

Are their any plugs that you would highly recommened? How much should I retard the timing?

For instance if I were to press it a bit and go 75hp, what kind of mods would I be looking at? Larger fuel pump, injectors, etc is what I have heard, is this neccessary?

I've been doing a 65hp jetted zex dry kit on basically the same setup as you all last season. Colder plugs are the way to go obviously. I left my timing alone, and it wasn't an issue after 6 bottles. Everyone's different; Use your judgement.

My advice is spend money on getting your tires to hook up better. I spent a lot of time either walking my Civic off the line or spinning to the 60', and it had a lot to do with tires and suspension. Adjustable struts and good street radials will help translate power into acceleration.

Rule of Thumb = Retard ur ignition when shooting more than a 50 or 55 shot.

Make sure your fuel pump is in good shape
