Default More Power?

I am in the process of looking for engines for my 99 Civic EX. I wanted a b16 but these seem to be a little too much for me to spend at the moment. So I was wondering what if I went with an LS swap. I found an LS swap for like 1750 and its ODB2 so would I this be a good investment? Am I really going to be quicker? What kind of improvements are we talking about?

well since you have an EX it would be better to invest in an engine with vtec like the b16 you were talkin about, you can get a b16 for about 2k...but whatever floats your boat...thats just something i would do....the hp of the LS is about 142 and i dont know the torque and the b16 is about 160 but the LS has more torque than the b16...its actually more about what you like more

Honestly, I would prefer an LS swap to a B16 swap anyway. 6th gens aren't particularly light, and the torque will help a lot. The B16 has more hp, but in terms of speed B16a v. B18b in identical cars... really it would just come down to the driver. You'll like the B18B, go for it.

If you can manage to get a gsr transmission instead of an LS one, I'd spring on that too. It will make it a little quicker.

engine mounts? b20's are nice engines too..full of torque..my friend has a 89 prelude si with a rebuilt b20 and that thing pulls so hard, even when we have a full car(box with 2 twelves in the trunk, 4 guys over 150lbs)

the B20 bolts up the same as any B series motor(B16A, B18A, etc.). however, the CRV B20 and prelude B20 are different. in fact, the old prelude B20 isn't really a B series motor at all.

it has nothing in common with any other B series. seriously just look at a B18 and then look at a prelude B20. the mounts are even different. the only thing they have in common is that they're honda motors.
