Hi, I'm new to this forum and just wanted to introduce myself... I am not here because of my love for civics, or Hondas, but because of my enthusiasm for cars, and cars that go fast. I do not understand the reasons behind moding a civic or other economy car and was wondering if anyone here might be able to enlighten me. I personally enjoy sports cars, and am tired of my modified mr2 being brought down because a civic (with a little over 100 pounds of torque) has exhaust that looks like mine, but thankfully will never sound like mine . So hears the question, why modify a 98 ex civic, or anyother civic for that matter? Is that 20hp going to make your driving experiences that much greater? Or, in the end, is it all about image, do you feel cool (or like a hardcore street racer) when you drive by in your civic barely being able to get your beast up to the speed limit... I realize I will be flamed for this but I also really hope someone can argue a good point.

why mod any car then? why mod your MR2? why put the exhaust system on your toyota, if it's only going to give you a few more HP? droping another engine into a Civic will get you a lot more than 20HP. and short of that there are a lot more mods one can do other than an exhaust system, to gain power.

I bought my Civic for 2K, and she's quite peppy now.

Anyway, it's all personal preference. I'm a huge fan of Honda manual transmissions, their solid linkage shifter design, and their steering/handling.

As for your exhaust, it would probably sound exactly the same on a turbocharged Civic. Tends to eliminate a lot of the buzzing and resonance, plus overall quiet down the exhaust.


I expect that you came here looking for ricers, or people defending loud, nasty exhausts, aluminum wings, cut springs, altezzas, and street racing. You'll find the reality quite the opposite. If you want rice, I would suggest www.superhonda.com

 

Well, I didn't mod my civic with the hopes of it being a high HP sports car. It's looks good (to me), it's reliable, economical, and is just practical for what I use it for. A 450+ HP drag car is of no use to me. What I have done is make it look better, safer, handle better, and a little bit faster. I've had other cars, but there something about a honda.. Just best suits me I guess. Hard to explain I guess.

well I mod my honda because I love the overall design and shape of it, it was an affordable car to start out with, and there are a ton of mods for it. I really don't see how your turbo MR2 is all that much better than WCS's almost 300 horsepower 4dr civic.
