I said that before. I vote the mods close this thread and see how things go. I garentee it goes well, we already have del sol and civic owners helping each other in the forum, why can't the rest see this?

Sorry Fellas, something just bugs me about having gay azz Del Sols in the same forum. I know they are civics but it's kinda like them throwing accords and preludes into the same forum as well. It just does'nt fit. But whatever they think is best is fine with me. i will give them a little hell for fun though.

I don't really have a problem with the merger. I wouldn't mind learning a thing or two from Sol and EL owners. And I'm sure some of the Civic folk could help out the Sol and EL owners with their knowledge and whatnot.

Though I do somewhat understand the Sol folks having to weed out Sol information from Civic information, but I think of it this way.

It's not any different from an EG owner having to weed out info from an EF, EK, EP, etc.

Or a coupe owner having to filter out info from a hatch and sedan owner. Sometimes their irrelevant, sometimes it could be useful, but wouldn't it benefit everyone to learn from it?

Plz....no more bashing of the "no merge" idea. We need to try and just let this thread die....for the best of the whole forum.

OK everyone; maybe we all need to cool off a little. I'm not looking to get flamed by anyone, but this America and I can speak my mind. I'm entitled to my opinion. Also, I'm not pretending to speak for everyone who owns a Sol, OK? I'm speaking for me. I'll just try and be more respectful about it than some folks on here have been to others tonight....

First- I'm a Sol owner. Proud of it. I bought it simply because it is a unique car. Rare? Eh, maybe. I can go days without seeing one. But, I saw 6 today. My opinion= the problem here is that the Sol owners took this as a slap in the face. Someone arbitrarily made a decision for them directly affecting them without consulting them. It is alienating to Sol owners. We pride ourselves on having a car that is slightly different than anything else. Can the Mod Gods at least see that what they did could be upsetting/offensive to some people? You took something that, to some of us, defines part of our ownership experience and negated it. To some, it can feel like we aren't important enough to be considered for who we are. Proud owners of a unique car that is different from the Civic. By the logic of the mods, than shouldn't the CRX be in the same forum? My best friend had one and we constantly used parts from the Civics to keep his CRX running. Also, I do agree with the argument that the Integra and Type-R should be in the same thread if you're going to lump Civics and Sols together. How much of your hesitance to do this is directly related to the fact that one of you has one? Ask yourself- if you belonged to a forum, and logged in one day and someone put Integras and Type-R in the same forum and said, "that is what I have decided for you.", can you honestly say you wouldn't be even the smallest bit ruffled about it? Well, as much as you think the Type-R is different than the standard Integra, that is how we feel Sols are different from the Civic.

Second- I agree that we could at least see how the merge goes and take it from there. I'm sure there will be LOTS of kinks to work out, but maybe the Mod Gods will be sensitive to that and will address concerns quickly and with open minds. You guys want to hate me and burn me on other boards for that? Fine. At least I'm not narrow-minded. Does the idea of an arbitrary merge like this burn my a**? Yes, but I'll get over it. Maybe it’ll turn out to be a HUGE mistake. Maybe it’ll open up new worlds of ideas to both owner groups. Who knows? Let’s find out.

FYI- I owned a Civic in high school. I owned an Integra GS-R in college. Loved the car. Love my Sol too. So yes, I can speak from ALL sides thanks. But, I own 2 Hondas now. I have an '03 Element. I belong to several E owners sites, including a forum shared by CR-V and HR-V owners. The E and CR-V are mechanically the same. Engine, tranny, most suspension, brakes, etc. How would I feel if someone merged the forums? Pissed. They are completely different cars with different problems. But, like the Sol and Civic, one born from the other due to financial necessity of creating a new model cheaply. BUT, the E and CR-V owners surf and contribute to each other's forums. And, we learn A LOT from each other. But, at least we have our own separate identities. In America, that defines a lot of who we are. That is what Solers had taken from them. That is why they're mad. I hope we all can come to a mutual ground here. Like it or not, we're all "related".....

Sorry...I know this was way long. Thanks for reading and putting up with my s**t. But I was just getting kind of sick of all the arguing. I'm off the soapbox now......won't get back up, I promise.
